About me
Doyen Radcliffe is a Yamatji Naaguja man from the Midwest Region of Western Australia. Doyen is a community minded individual with a passion for empowering Indigenous communities to reach their real potential to improve quality of life, health, social and economic wellbeing, and inclusion within Australian society.
Doyen is a delegate and a signatory to the Uluru Statement from the Heart.
In December 2021, the Bill Armstrong AO Human Rights Award was presented to Doyen Radcliffe. Doyen has been recognised for his decades of work supporting First Nations' communities to improve quality of life, health, social and economic wellbeing, and inclusion within Australian society.
Mr Radcliffe has been instrumental in pushing through adversity and challenges to create positive outcomes in human rights for his mob and communities across the Northern Territory (NT) and Western Australia (WA). He is multiplying his efforts and expertise by coaching and training others and generously sharing his knowledge and experience widely to better all First Nations' communities. Doyen’s reach and influence expand across the nation as he sits as Director on several community-focused Boards.
Recently Doyen has been appointed as the National Community Development Advisor to provide support to improving our ME and CD practices. Prior Doyen was the Regional Manager with Community First Development based in Perth; WA Doyen overseen community developments activities in WA. Doyen was a member of CFD Participatory Monitoring and Evaluation working group to improve the way CFD works and capturing impact and change in the communities CFD works with. In addition, Doyen worked with others to develop CFD’s Community Development Framework that has been incorporated into CFD project management database further developed as a document and tool to assist CFD’s Community Development Officers with their ongoing work. Doyen has worked with CFD Impact and Strategy team with an Action Research Project and co-presented the key findings of the research - Good Governance Practice Leads to Good Relationships - in an online forum and conference.
Doyen is a former Director to the Australian Evaluation Society and former Vice President of AES. The purpose of his appointment is to strengthen and build Indigenous and non-Indigenous capacity in culturally safe evaluation theory, practice, and use. Doyen is a member of AES Indigenous Culture and Diversity Committee (ICDC) and supported the development of AES First Nation Cultural Safety Framework and AES Reconciliation Action Plan.
In 2020, Doyen was appointed to the Interim Nomination Committee working with the Forum for Directors of Indigenous Organisations to oversee process to selecting independent directors for Yamatji Southern Regional Corporation Ltd prescribed body corporate.
Doyen is also a Director of two community based Indigenous corporations – Naaguja Warangkarri Aboriginal Corporation and Marr Koodjal Aboriginal Corporation.
