Talk to me about evaluation transforming lives and enabling social change. Talk to me about realist, developmental, embedded, responsive evaluation in education systems in Australia and in Southeast Asia. Talk to me about using ECB to transform teaching practice and the impact of teacher professional learning. Talk to me about beauty, truth and justice. I've been working as a specialist in monitoring and evaluation in development projects and programs for the last 20 years. I've mainly worked in the basic education sub-sector, and mainly in Southeast Asia, especially in Indonesia, Vietnam and Laos. From 2016 to 2018 I was the evaluation adviser for DFAT's Basic Education Quality and Access in Laos program (BEQUAL). Since 2021 I've been working as Evaluation Capacity Building Lead in the Quality Teaching Practice in the NSW Department of Education. QTP is an incubator, piloting and scaling innovative approaches to teacher professional development with a deliberate focus on lifting student learning outcomes through high-impact professional learning for teachers and school leaders. In 2023 I became an Adjunct Research Fellow in the Realist Research Evaluation and Learning Initiative at Charles Darwin University. In this role I’m collaborating with Liam Downing to produce a chapter on realist developmental evaluation for a book on the practice of realist evaluation.
