My main interest is in participatory approaches to evaluation and community development work. In terms of evaluation I tend to focus on qualitative approaches and like to work with clients to build their M&E capacity either via on-the- job ‘training’ or delivery of various M&E training courses. I developed my interest in evaluation in 2005 by working closely with Jessica Dart of Clear Horizon and eventually branched out on my own several years ago.
I am an internationally recognised expert in the Most Significant Change (MSC) technique and delivered well over 25 training courses in MSC alone. I’m currently the MSC expert on a panel supporting USAID programs in complexity aware M&E.
My evaluation experience is variable across sectors and includes both domestic and extensive international development experience. Clients include Not For Profits and NGOs, government departments and large international development projects. Some of my most enjoyable experiences have been when working on projects involving refugee youth at risk of homelessness, Noongar community health and people overcoming addiction problems. Countries of work experience include: Australia, Kenya, Ethiopia, Malawi, South Africa, Uganda, Indonesia, India, Solomon Islands, United Arab Emirates, Morocco, Romania, UK, Netherlands and Germany.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) specialising in human geography (development studies). I have strong facilitation skills and hold a Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training.
