Suzanne currently leads a team in the Australian Centre for Evaluation (ACE) responsible for embedding good evaluation principles and practices across government and fostering an evaluative culture that supports continuous learning about what works, why, and for whom. This includes working with departments and agencies across the Australian Public Service (APS) to put evaluation evidence at the heart of policy design and decision-making, so the Australian government can have confidence its programs and policies are delivering better outcomes for Australians and achieving value for money.
In late 2021, Suzanne led work in the Australian Government to design and implement a Commonwealth Evaluation Policy and Toolkit, which aims to embed a culture of evaluation and learning from experience to underpin evidence-based policy design and service delivery.
This principles-based approach is designed to support Commonwealth entities and companies to undertake evaluations to a standard that ensures information is credible and robust, with associated data collection, evaluation practices and public use of evaluation findings taking into account relevant ethical, cultural and privacy considerations.
Suzanne has over 20 years’ experience working in a Commonwealth central agency, including a number of years working in the Minister for Finance’s office, and previously held various roles in the private sector. Suzanne has extensive experience working on Federal Budgets, advising on social policy, managing and contributing to strategic reviews and change management agendas, and leading various whole-of-government public sector reform initiatives.
