An evaluator and a data analyst with a passion for measuring and improving outcomes across education, health and community wellbeing sectors, I was The Ian Potter Foundation’s Research and Evaluation Manager from 2015 until 2022. Over the past two decades, I've conducted evaluations for schools, outdoor education programs, government, childcare settings, and homelessness programs. I worked for non-profits including the Brotherhood of St Laurence and received National Board certification as a primary school teacher in the United States.
I love spreadsheets and pivot tables and completed my Masters at Stanford University in Evaluation and Policy Analysis (shout out to David Fetterman) . My undergraduate was at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in political science and education, and second masters was in journalism (focus on data and investigative) at the University of Melbourne. I finished my PhD at the University of Auckland under John Hattie and Mary Hill investigating teacher support systems in low-socioeconomic schools.
When I can escape parenting duties, I enjoy whitewater kayaking, social basketball and rock climbing. Talk to me about "PhilEval" and synthetic control modelling.
