Dr. Ayoo is an Assistant Professor of Educational Research Methodology in the Department of Information, Library, and Research Science at the School of Education, University of North Carolina Greensboro. She teaches graduate courses in program evaluation and research methodology, mentoring doctoral students and graduate assistants. Her research focuses on the formal development of program evaluation as a profession, with an emphasis on evaluator competencies, professionalism, meta-evaluation, and teaching program evaluation. Dr. Ayoo began her evaluation practice over a decade ago as an “accidental evaluator” and now conducts local and international evaluations at the intersection of social justice and human rights in education, public policy, gender equality, and conflict resolution in international development. Before pursuing her doctoral studies at the University of Minnesota in 2014, she worked as an independent evaluation consultant, managing her consulting company and conducting over 65 program and policy evaluations in more than 35 African countries. She received the prestigious Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship from the US State Department in 2011 for promising leaders and the University of Minnesota’s Women’s Philanthropic Leadership Award, recognizing graduate students and pre-tenured faculty members whose scholarship demonstrates leadership and creativity. Dr. Ayoo is a member of the American Evaluation Association, the Canadian Evaluation Society, and the Australasian Evaluation Society.
