About me
Melinda Mann is a Darumbal and South Sea Islander woman based in Rockhampton, Qld. Her work focuses on Indigenous Nation building, Pacific sovereignties, and regional and rural communities. Melinda has a background in student services, learning design, school and tertiary education, community organising, education research and Indigenous governance. Melinda is the Academic Lead for the Jilbay First Nations Research Higher Degree Academy within the Office of Indigenous Engagement at Central Queensland University. She is also the First Nations Art Officer at the Rockhampton Museum of Art. Across both roles she has responsibilities ranging from education program design and delivery to First Nations governance, curatorial advice, embedding community within institutions and learning resources development. Melinda is a member of various committees and working groups including ministerial appointments as well as being involved in local and global communities to assert Indigenous solidarities. Her lived experiences as a Darumbal person living on Darumbal Country and in community with others inform her worldview and approaches to her work.
