In participatory and developmental evaluation contexts, evaluators and program stakeholders work together throughout the evaluation cycle to adapt evaluation and implementation activities to rapidly changing environments (Fetterman, 2018; Patton, 2015). This presentation will share reflections from an evaluation project where sharing and discussing synthetic data (also known as fake data) with program stakeholders created a shared understanding of data validity, strengthened stakeholder engagement in analysis and reporting processes, and ultimately led to early learnings which were used to strengthen the rigour and utilisation of evaluation findings.
