Combining sketch mapping and qualitative Geographical Information Science (GIS) provides a unique but under-utilised approach to measuring and evaluating people's experience of physical spaces. Using the case study, Mapping Fear of Crime on the Australian National University Campus, this presentation will (1) review the sketch mapping as a qualitative tool, (2) present it's applied use to date, and (3) explore it's potential for evaluation. All illustrated with colourful maps of participants behavioural wayfinding due to fear of being a victim of crime.
